Child Safeguard campaigns were held in all the projects of Help A Child of India.
One incident that captured our hearts was an attempt to kidnap that was averted in the heart of Chennai city. Amonth after the campaign, in one of the fine evenings of September 2017 after the child finished studying at our Child Development Centre, Malar (name changed), 9 years, stopped by a stationery shop on her way back home. One man caught her attention and told her that her father is sick and in the hospital and he wants to see her immediately. The little girl went with him wanting to meet her father. After reaching the end of the street the little girl overheard the phone call of that man talking to his team and she became suspicious of his mission to take her to the hospital. She immediately understood that something is wrong and she is being trafficked. She escaped from him cleverly and ran back swiftly to her home. When the people in the community went back in search for the man, he escaped. We are so thankful that Malar is safe and could act rightly when in danger and experienced the sense of protection. She attributed her ability to act based on the teachings at Help A Child of India’s intervention during the Child Safeguard Campaign.
