We are all aware that HIV/AIDS has a devastating effect in India for over two decades and everyday thousands of families are becoming vulnerable to HIV/AIDS. At the same time HIV/AIDS is still a mystery to many. People still view it with ignorance and apathy. Therefore Help A Child of India in Partnership with CANA (Christian AIDS/HIV National Alliance) has announced NAASPEC’10 (National AIDS Awareness Spot Painting and Essay Competition) in an effort to dispel wrong notions on HIV/AIDS and create awareness among the younger generation. We propose to launch this event in commemoration of the World AIDS Day which falls on the 1st of December. We will facilitate the organising of this event in institutions on any day between 1st December ’10 and 31st January ’11. A participation fee of Rs 20/- per event will go towards the welfare of children affected by HIV/AIDS. This process will also ensure that the children are able to think beyond themselves and are able to give towards those who are in need. The participating institution will select the three best paintings and three best essays. These selected paintings and essays will compete for national honours. There will also be prize money and participation certificates to encourage the children.
