MOBILE ADDICTION AWARENESS PROGRAM-PULIANTHOPE, CHENNAI

Event Description
In today’s digital world, mobile phones have become an essential part of daily life. While technology offers numerous benefits in education and communication, excessive mobile usage has led to growing concerns about mobile addiction among children and adolescents. To address this issue, a Mobile Addiction Awareness Program was organized by Help A Child of India in Collaboration with Aware India trust to educate students about responsible mobile usage and its impact on physical and mental health on 4th March 2026 at Dr. B.R Ambedkar Mandram. Ms. Enitha Ramesh, Lawyer and Legal training associate at Aware India trust shared the insights and highlighted the signs and symptoms of mobile addiction and how it’s impacting our health and sleep pattern. She explained the role of parents in shaping children’s career. She provided practical tips to reduce screen time and enhance life. She suggested setting screen times, mindfulness exercises and offline activities to overcome mobile addiction. She conducted activities for the children and engaged them insisting the importance of healthy mobile habits. MSW students from the Loyola College Chennai and Pondicherry university performed puppetry based on the theme. Participants reported increased awareness about mobile addiction and committed to reducing screen time. They also interacted with the resource person sharing their experiences and tips on social media using. Participants gave positive feedback and rated the program as impactful. The program was highly informative and engaging. Students expressed their willingness to reduce unnecessary mobile usage and adopt healthier habits. Many students shared that they would create a daily schedule to balance studies and screen time. Students took a pledge to: Limit daily screen time, Avoid mobile usage during study hours, Spend more time in outdoor and creative activities.
