Jasmin
In 2022, Jasmin’s world changed forever. At just 16 years old, she lost her father—the pillar of her family. Overnight, her home, once filled with laughter and hope, became a place of uncertainty. Her mother, now the sole breadwinner, struggled to provide even the basic necessities. Education, once Jasmin’s strongest dream, slowly slipped out of reach. With a heavy heart, Jasmin dropped out of school. Days turned into months, but her love for learning never faded. While others moved ahead in their studies, Jasmin held on to her books, revisiting old lessons, refusing to let her dreams disappear. Deep inside, she believed that one day, she would return to the classroom. Her mother saw that spark in her eyes—the quiet determination that refused to die. Despite their struggles, she took a brave step and approached the staff at Amritsar Child Development, a project of Help a Child of India. She shared their story, their pain, and most importantly, her daughter’s dream. Moved by Jasmin’s resilience, the team stepped in with encouragement and support. They motivated her mother to re-enrol Jasmin in school, reminding her that it is never too late to start again. Soon, a door opened. Even though Jasmin was older than her peers, the school welcomed her into the 8th standard—a second chance many never receive. But just as hope began to rise, another challenge stood in her way: ₹7,000 in pending school fees. Without clearing this amount, Jasmin wouldn’t be allowed to sit for her exams. For her family, this was an impossible burden. But Jasmin’s story didn’t end there. Amritsar Child Development once again stepped forward, determined not to let her dreams fade. Through their efforts, a generous sponsor came forward and paid her outstanding fees. In that moment, the weight on Jasmin’s shoulders lifted, and her path to education was restored. Today, Jasmin walks into her classroom with pride and confidence. Her mother watches with tears of joy, knowing that her daughter’s future is no longer defined by loss, but by hope. Jasmin studies with renewed determination, carrying not just her own dreams, but the strength of her mother and the kindness of those who believed in her. Her journey is a powerful reminder: Sometimes, all it takes is one helping hand to turn a setback into a comeback. Jasmin didn’t just return to school—she reclaimed her future.
