A Menstrual Hygiene and Health Awareness Programme was conducted to create awareness among adolescent girls and women about menstruation, safe menstrual hygiene practices, personal health, nutrition, self-care, and the importance of breaking myths and cultural taboos surrounding menstruation. The program was conducted on 31st August 2026 at Dr. Ambedkar Mandram, Pulianthope. The programme aimed to provide participants with clear, supportive, and scientifically informed knowledge to help them manage menstruation in a healthy, hygienic, confident, and dignified manner. The session was handled by Dr. Jothimani, Professor & HOD, Dept of Medical Sociology. MMM College of Health science. She began with an explanation of menstruation as a natural biological process. The Menstrual Hygiene and Health Awareness Programme served as an important platform to educate adolescent girls and women about menstrual health, hygiene, nutrition, and self-care. The session helped address misconceptions and cultural taboos while promoting safe and hygienic menstrual practices. The programme reinforced the message that menstrual health is an important part of overall health and well-being. Participants were encouraged to break the silence, ask questions without shame, and support one another in creating a healthy, informed, and stigma-free environment. The programme concluded with the key message: “Period health is a right, not a secret.
